Single Tooth Implant Installation
A dental implant procedure is a full-fledged surgical operation where the doctor inserts an artificial root (implant) into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth.
The installed implant is loaded with a crown either after the healing process of the titanium root (3-6 months) or within 72 hours post-surgery. As a result, the dental surgeon successfully restores both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the tooth.
Indications for Single Tooth Implantation
- A missing tooth with the root.
- Indication for tooth extraction (due to trauma or decay).
- Contraindications to wearing removable dentures.
How Much Does One Implant Cost?
The cost of implantation depends on several factors:
- the specifics of the clinical case (bone structure and density, the patient’s initial oral health);
- the chosen implantation protocol (classic, single-stage, immediate);
- the type of implant (for front or molar teeth, lower or upper jaw);
- the brand of the titanium root;
- the material of the crown on the implant.

Single Tooth Implantation in Different Clinical Cases
Missing Front Tooth
The restoration of front teeth comes with high aesthetic requirements. Therefore, it is best to use E-max ceramic crowns in these cases. A metal-ceramic prosthesis will eventually cause gingival discoloration, while a zirconium prosthesis may stand out due to its unnaturally white color.
A front tooth must be restored as quickly as possible because bone tissue in this area atrophies faster. Along with the bone, the gum also recedes, which is why soft tissue grafting is often included in the restoration protocol for a front tooth.
Missing Molar Tooth
Implant placement in the posterior sections of the jaw requires high primary stability of the titanium root since molar teeth are meant to withstand significant chewing loads. In these cases, implantologists insert thin and short stems with an increased diameter. A cost-effective metal-ceramic crown or a prosthesis made of zirconium dioxide can serve as the restoration.
Before placing a dental implant in the molar region, bone grafting may be necessary, especially for the upper jaw, which is made of spongy bone tissue, receives less load, and resorbs faster.
Replacing One Tooth
If a tooth needs to be extracted and an implant placed, both procedures can be combined and done in one day, using immediate implantation. This technique involves placing a titanium root in the socket immediately after tooth extraction, followed by prosthetics.
A single-stage protocol shortens the treatment time, prevents bone resorption, and preserves the original contour of the soft tissues.
Tooth Has Been Missing for a Long Time
In cases of prolonged absence of a tooth, the bone at the defect site eventually atrophies. A bone grafting procedure, such as osteoplasty or sinus lift, is required. After the bone material has fully integrated (within 3-4 months), the implant surgery can proceed.

None. The bone atrophies, adjacent teeth shift | Integration with the bone. Prevention of its loss |

Doctor's Advice
If another dental clinic told you that tooth extraction is unavoidable, don’t rush. At our clinic, we successfully perform tooth-preserving surgeries that can extend the life of even the most “hopeless” teeth. We resort to extraction and implantation when replacing the tooth with a titanium root proves to be the more reliable solution.
Contraindications for Tooth Implantation
Relative
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding period
- Viral infection
- Dental caries
- Multiple dental deposits
- Malocclusion
Absolute
- Autoimmune diseases
- AIDS
- Cancer
- Tuberculosis
- Drug addiction
If you have relative contraindications, you can proceed with implantation once the issue is resolved—such as caries treatment, bite correction, or professional cleaning.
Recovery After Implantation
The duration of the rehabilitation period depends on the chosen implantation method. Protocols with immediate loading reduce recovery time.
Patients who have undergone the surgery must follow the recommendations of their treating doctor. In the first few days after the procedure, it’s important to remain within reach of your dentist.
Questions and Answers
- Which implant should I choose?
It depends on which implant systems the implantologist works with. Our clinic works with three: Straumann, IHDE Dental (Switzerland), MegaGen, and K3Pro, which are among the top-rated implants. The titanium roots from these manufacturers meet the key criteria: they are well-integrated, durable, and safe.
- What types of implants and implantation methods exist?
The main classification of implants is based on the price: premium, business, and economy-class implant systems are used in practice. Depending on the placement method, titanium roots can be endosseous or subperiosteal. Each group also has internal classifications. The choice of a particular design depends on the type of surgery and the patient’s financial capabilities.
- How long do implants last?
The longevity of implants is determined by the material and the installation technique. The service life is also influenced by the patient’s oral hygiene post-surgery and the specifics of the clinical case.
