At the "Kiadent" custom prosthetics clinic, we offer composite restoration of aesthetic defects in the front teeth (smile zone) at prices lower than the average in Odessa.
What are composite veneers?
These are thin plates made of light-cured nanocomposite material, which are either applied in layers or bonded directly to the front surface of the problematic tooth, concealing cosmetic imperfections.
With these micro-prosthetics, it is possible to correct defects in the front teeth (incisors and canines) by:
- Restoring the original color of natural enamel;
- Reconstructing the shape, texture, and size.
They are typically used to address cosmetic defects in 1-2 front teeth.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
- Affordable. You can achieve a beautiful smile for 12,000 rubles (by comparison, an E-max ceramic veneer costs 19,600 rubles).
- Quick results. In just one visit, the composite veneer can be made and installed, improving the aesthetics of your smile.
- Good aesthetics. The color is carefully matched to the patient’s natural teeth.
Disadvantages:
- Low wear resistance. Unlike ceramic and zirconium veneers, composite veneers are less durable.
- Short lifespan. They need to be replaced every 3-5 years.
- Color changes. They may discolor if the composite material separates. Polishing is required every six months.
- Inadequate fit. Due to poor fit to the tooth, plaque and bacteria can accumulate in border areas, leading to caries and gum inflammation.

Composite veneer (indirect method) (per tooth)
Indications for installation
Composite (therapeutic) veneers are used to solve these aesthetic issues:
- Yellowish/grayish enamel color;
- Minor tooth irregularities;
- Erosion;
- Chips, cracks;
- Enlarged gaps between teeth, diastema.
When composite veneers are contraindicated:
- The tooth nerve has been removed;
- Bite abnormalities;
- Bruxism;
- Significant enamel defects;
- Deep cracks.
Differences between composite and ceramic veneers
The only advantage of composite veneers over ceramic veneers is the affordable price. In all other aspects (aesthetics, strength, lifespan), they are significantly inferior to ceramic veneers.

Doctor's advice
Composite veneers are the best option for restoring 1-2 teeth. To correct aesthetic defects in a greater number of teeth, it is better to choose ceramic veneers.
Methods and stages of installing composite veneers
Before placing veneers, the prosthodontist must remove caries (if present), plaque, tartar, and old fillings. The surface of the enamel is then polished and etched to ensure better adhesion of the composite material to the tooth.
Direct application (therapeutic veneers)
For correcting significant aesthetic defects, direct veneer placement (artistic restoration) allows for completely avoiding enamel preparation.
The veneer is created directly on the tooth during one visit. The dentist slightly reduces the enamel (by only 0.2-0.3 mm), applies the composite material in layers, and uses light curing to harden each layer. The final step is polishing the finished veneer, and the patient can once again enjoy a beautiful smile.
Indirect method (composite veneers)
A temporary filling is placed, and an insulating liner is applied.
This method is generally used to restore serious cosmetic defects in several front teeth.
After reducing the enamel (up to 0.7 mm), the prosthodontist takes an impression and sends it to a dental lab for veneer fabrication. While the composite veneers are being made (3-5 days), the dentist will place temporary plastic overlays. During the second visit to the clinic, the dentist will replace the temporary veneers with permanent ones.
Indirectly made composite veneers are stronger than direct ones, but they are more expensive.
The indirect method is more expensive
1. Stage.
Local anesthesia is administered so that the patient feels no pain.
2. Stage.
The doctor removes carious areas of enamel and dentin.
3. Stage.
Medicinal treatment is applied to the tooth cavity, and a calcium-containing base is placed on the bottom.
4. Stage.
An insulating liner is applied, and a temporary filling is placed.
The cost of an indirect composite veneer installation is almost the same as that of a ceramic veneer. Therefore, it makes more sense to opt for a ceramic veneer instead of using the indirect composite method.
Lifespan and care
Composite veneers need to be replaced every 3-5 years. If you want to enjoy a beautiful smile for a longer time after installing composite veneers, it is essential to:
- Take care of them properly (regular brushing with a toothbrush and dental floss);
- Avoid bad habits (such as cracking seeds or biting threads with front teeth);
- Have a professional oral cleaning every six months;
- Wear a night guard if you suffer from bruxism.
Which is better – a veneer or a crown for a front tooth?
Each method has its own indications, so the best option for correcting a cosmetic defect should be chosen by the dentist based on the clinical situation.
It is definitely better to choose a crown if:
- The tooth is depulped;
- There is a significant chip or crack;
- The patient suffers from bruxism.
It is better to choose a veneer for a front tooth if:
- It is only slightly damaged (requiring minimal preparation, so the anatomical form can be preserved almost entirely);
- You want to hide small gaps between teeth.
- The patient has enamel discoloration (such as mottled enamel, fluorosis, or tetracycline staining).
