Clinical situations

The material and type of construction are chosen depending on the clinical situation (chip, only the root remains, complete absence of the incisor).

Chips and cracks

You can eliminate an aesthetic defect by installing a veneer—a thin (up to 0.5 mm) ceramic overlay attached to the enamel using composite glue.

Advantages:

  • does not darken;
  • retains its original shape;
  • provides protection against caries.

Disadvantages:

  • requires preliminary enamel preparation;
  • requires periodic polishing.

In some clinical cases, it is possible to use lumineers—an even thinner type of ceramic overlay that does not require enamel grinding. Their lifespan is twice as long, but the price is higher. An alternative is refractory-based veneers.

Missing half or 40–50% of the tooth

A standard filling will not help—too much of the chewing surface is lost. Inlays made of composite material or ceramics are used.

Advantages:

  • stronger and more durable than fillings;
  • reliably protect the pulp from infection;
  • do not require nerve removal (in the absence of inflammation);
  • lifespan of up to 12 years.

Disadvantages:

  • lengthy production (impression taking, inlay fabrication in a dental laboratory, installation);
  • high cost.

More than 70% of the incisor is lost (root intact)

In this case, a filling or inlay will not stay in the oral cavity, and there is no need to remove the tooth. We recommend installing a crown made of ceramics or zirconia.

Advantages:

  • restores the chewing function of the dental arch;
  • high aesthetic qualities (looks like natural teeth).

Disadvantages:

  • requires significant enamel grinding before installation.

Missing one entire tooth (removed with root)

You can install:

  • Immediate prosthesis — an affordable, temporary structure made of nylon or acrylic. Attaches to support teeth without preparation. Looks natural but wears out within a year.
  • Monolithic bridge of three crowns, one of which replaces the lost tooth. Fully restores aesthetic and chewing functions and adapts in just 2–3 days. Installed after preparing adjacent teeth. Does not stop bone atrophy.
  • Implant with a crown. Stops the process of bone tissue resorption. Preserves adjacent teeth (no preparation needed) and fully restores the dental arch's function. Integration takes 3–6 months.

Missing several teeth

We use both fixed and removable prostheses.

  • Removable: bar, nylon, or acrylic Acry Free prostheses supported by natural teeth or implants (lifespan 10–15 years). They restore chewing function but do not prevent bone tissue atrophy.
  • Fixed: bridge prosthesis on implants with ceramic or zirconia crowns. Recommended for cases of 3–4 missing consecutive incisors (completely stops bone resorption, preserves neighboring teeth, and offers high aesthetics).

What to choose: implant-supported bridge or bar prosthesis?

An implant-supported bridge is the best solution for several missing consecutive teeth. It outperforms in terms of strength, durability, and aesthetics (though it costs more). Bar prostheses cannot match these characteristics and serve as an alternative when the patient has absolute contraindications to titanium implants.

Features of prosthetics for upper and lower anterior teeth

Upper anterior teeth play a role in a smile, so they must look as beautiful as possible. This is one of the main tasks that our clinic's dentists solve when choosing a prosthetics option. We use materials that do not show through and look natural (e.g., nanocomposite materials, veneers, or zirconia crowns).

Prosthetics for lower anterior teeth is a simpler task in terms of aesthetics. They are almost not involved in chewing or smiling. Therefore, there is no need to use expensive zirconia crowns for lower teeth implantation. A good alternative is a fixed metal-ceramic prosthesis, which meets high strength standards and offers reasonable aesthetics (plus is significantly cheaper).

There are no nasal sinuses in the lower jaw, which simplifies the prosthetics procedure, especially for implantation (bone grafting is rarely required). It is also worth noting the high density of hard tissues, which affects the speed of artificial root integration.

Implant integration timeline:

  • Lower jaw: 3–4 months
  • Upper jaw: 3–6 months
