At the custom prosthetics dental clinic "Kiadent," we install all types of ceramic crowns at prices below the Odessa average.
We use metal-free ceramics from global brands, conduct diagnostics with a modern 3D scanner, and fabricate orthopedic constructions using CAD/CAM prosthetics.
Advantages of Ceramic Crowns
Ceramic dental crowns do not have a metal framework and are very close to natural teeth in color and translucency. They can be installed on front and molar teeth, as well as on implants.
Unlike metal-ceramics, all-ceramic crowns do not cause allergies or bluish gum margins and provide impeccable smile aesthetics. Moreover, installing ceramics usually requires less preparation (grinding) of healthy abutment teeth.
Types of Ceramic Crowns
All-Ceramic E-max
Made from E-max glass-ceramics (lithium disilicate) manufactured by Ivoclar.
The crystalline structure of this material, in terms of optical properties and shades, is very close to natural tooth enamel. Because of this, artificial ceramic teeth are indistinguishable from real ones.
E-max ceramic crowns, depending on the manufacturing method, come in two types:
IPS E-max PRESS (pressed ceramics). Manufactured by sintering several ceramic layers in molds under pressure, achieving high strength of orthopedic products.
Pressed ceramics IPS E-max PRESS is mainly used for areas of the dental arch where higher strength is required.
IPS E-max CAD (milled CAD/CAM). Manufactured from monolithic ceramic blocks on a dental milling machine according to a digital 3D model of the patient's oral cavity.
CAD/CAM technology is used in cases when it is necessary to achieve filigree precision in restoration, for example, when restoring a front incisor.
Metal-free E-max ceramics are the ideal solution for restorations in the smile zone.
Solid Zirconia Crowns
Manufactured from zirconium dioxide—a type of metal-free ceramics. Solid zirconia crowns come in two types:
Monolithic opaque. Orthopedic constructions are made from opaque zirconium dioxide—the strongest of available prosthetic materials (30% stronger than metal-ceramics). Due to their opaque structure and unnaturally white color, metal-free dental prostheses are mainly used for restoring molar teeth.
Multilayer (Multi-Layer). The raw material for manufacturing these products is multilayer zirconium dioxide with four layers of different translucency, similar to natural teeth. Ceramic zirconia crowns multi-layer, installed on front teeth, provide excellent smile aesthetics, practically indistinguishable from adjacent teeth.
Zirconia Crowns with Ceramic Veneering
Only the framework of the crown is made from zirconium dioxide, which is then covered with layers of ceramics and fired in a furnace. The porcelain veneer provides an impeccable appearance of the restoration and maximum resemblance to other teeth in the dental arch.
Ceramic crowns on a zirconia framework are suitable for prosthetics of front teeth, as well as for restoring premolars. They are used with caution in the molar region, as high loads can lead to chipping of the ceramics.
Indications for Installation
Ceramic crowns are universal and used to restore any areas of the dental arch. However, the choice of a specific type of metal-free ceramics depends on the clinical situation, bite features, existing contraindications, and the patient's budget.
Solid Opaque Zirconia
Indications for installation: single crowns and bridges on molar teeth (implants), especially in patients with bruxism.
Not recommended to install on: front teeth.
Solid Zirconia Multi-Layer
Indications for installation:
- Bridges of four or more units on front teeth;
- Any defects of molar teeth;
- Bridges on implants.
Not recommended to install: for single restorations in the smile zone.
Ceramics on Zirconia
Indications for installation: front teeth, premolars.
Not recommended to install: on large molars of the lower jaw.
All-Ceramic
Indications for installation:
- Single crowns and three-unit bridges in the smile zone;
- Single molar teeth.
Not recommended to install:
- Bridges of four or more units;
- Prostheses on implants in the molar region.
Cost of Ceramic Crowns
The prices for crowns indicated in the table do not include expenses for examination, treatment, and preparation for prosthetics (professional hygiene, caries treatment, strengthening the coronal part with a post or inlay, implantation).
To find out how much a ceramic crown costs turnkey, you can only after examination and evaluation of the patient in our clinic.

Installing a Ceramic Crown on a Tooth
1. Step. Diagnosis and Planning
At the initial consultation, the patient is examined by specialized doctors: therapist, dental orthopedist, other specialists (if necessary). Radiological examination is conducted, based on the results of which the volume of preparatory work and prosthetic options are determined. A treatment plan is drawn up.
🕑 Duration: 1 day
2. Step. Preparation for Prosthetics
Before installing a ceramic crown, the tooth must be cleaned of caries, preliminarily prepared, and in case of severe destruction, strengthened with an inlay made of ceramics or zirconia.
After preparatory measures, individual impressions are taken for the manufacture of the orthopedic construction.
🕑 Duration: fabrication of the crown or dental prosthesis in the dental laboratory takes up to 7 days.
3D Scanning
In the dental clinic "Kiadent," we use the latest generation intraoral 3D scanner, which allows obtaining a three-dimensional model of the oral cavity without using traditional wax impressions. This frees patients from unpleasant sensations and allows us to create orthopedic constructions with accuracy up to hundredths of a millimeter.
3. Step. Prosthetics
The orthopedic construction is installed in one visit. After fitting in the oral cavity and adjustment if necessary, the ceramic crown is fixed on the abutment tooth stump using dental light-curing cement.
Cannot be placed immediately after implantation!
Installing a ceramic crown on an implant is possible only 3–6 months after implantation when the titanium root fuses with the bone.
Which is better: metal-ceramics or metal-free ceramics?
In the aesthetically significant zone (front incisors, canines, and lateral premolars), it is definitely better to place metal-free prostheses based on multilayer zirconium dioxide or all-ceramic.
For restoring molar teeth, both metal-ceramics and zirconium dioxide are equally suitable—it all depends on the patient's financial capabilities. However, it should be noted that teeth have to be more aggressively prepared under metal-ceramic crowns. Therefore, if the molar tooth is severely damaged, zirconia prostheses are better.
Service Life of Metal-Free Ceramics
A ceramic crown, with proper use, can last from 7 to 20 years. For different types of metal-free prosthetic constructions, the service life may vary:
Solid zirconia and ceramic E-max—due to their monolithic structure, can last from 12 to 20 years.
Ceramics on zirconia framework are more delicate and last from 7 to 12 years. Their weak point is the ceramic veneer, which can chip over time from hard food or heavy chewing loads.
Of course, the service life of an artificial tooth depends on whether the patient follows the dentist's recommendations for oral care. However, to a greater extent, durability is influenced by the quality of the construction and the dentist's strict adherence to the prosthetics protocol.
Questions and Answers
- Is it possible to repair a ceramic crown?
Some patients come to our clinic to fix chips in the ceramics on crowns with a zirconia framework. If the chip is minor, the integrity of the prosthesis can be restored with a photopolymer filling with high adhesive capability. In case of severe damage, the orthopedic construction will need to be replaced.
- How to care for ceramic crowns?
Care includes regular cleaning of the oral cavity with toothpaste, dental floss, interdental brushes, or an irrigator.
It is necessary to get rid of the habit (if any) of biting excessively hard food with your teeth (nuts, bones, seeds).
Patients with bruxism are recommended to have a removable silicone mouthguard made for nighttime wear.
